The austrian water brand attaches great importance to a good work-life balance and does a lot for it. In order to present the entire offer, which one enjoys as an employee, I was commissioned to animate a film in illustration style. From storyboard to illustrations to animation and editing, everything was done from one source.

The film uses calm, flowing animated illustrations to show how Vöslauer, as an employer, creates conditions that support a healthy balance between family and work — through flexible working hours, remote work options, and family-friendly initiatives.

The illustration style is deliberately minimalist: fine outlines, clean shapes, and subtle animations create a sense of lightness and clarity. By avoiding excessive detail, the visuals leave space for interpretation and personal connection – fully aligned with the Vöslauer brand world: clear, natural, and authentic.

Character Animation

A key part of the project involved creating animated characters that could express relatable everyday moments with minimal visual elements. To ensure smooth and natural movement, each character was carefully rigged — with bones precisely placed and hierarchies logically structured. The linking of data followed a clean, consistent order, allowing for flexible animation workflows and efficient adjustments. This technical precision behind the scenes helped bring the subtle storytelling to life, while staying true to the minimal, outline-based aesthetic.

Illustrations

The illustrations themselves were developed with a strong emphasis on clarity and emotional accessibility. Working exclusively with outlines, the visual language avoids distractions and instead highlights gesture, posture, and composition to convey meaning. Each character and object was reduced to its essence, yet designed with enough personality to create empathy and recognition. The limited visual complexity allowed the animation to breathe, supporting the narrative without overwhelming it – a balance that reflects both the minimalist design approach and the calm, thoughtful tone of the story.

The final Animatic

The final film combines minimalist visuals, subtle character animation, and clear storytelling to reflect Vöslauer’s commitment to a balanced, people-centered work culture — authentic, minimalistic, and true to the brand.
